Baby, it's COLD outside! As many of you know, the Northwest has been slammed with a nasty winter storm! We aren't used to this kind of weather, especially this early in the year. We didn't get a lot of snow, but the temperatures are in record low territory and the stuff that fell turned into almost instant ice. A twelve hour commute home was NOT unusual! My hubby was lucky made it home in around 4 hours (it normally takes 45 minutes!) He decided to wait and left his office at around 8...probably saved him those 3 hours of sitting on a parking lot which is normally a MAJOR freeway.
It didn't get above freezing at all today and is suppose to be in the low teens tonight. (You'd never guess that I was raised in ALaska and used to climb mountains in below zero temperatures every winter! I have turned into such a wimp!!) The family took a walk to get coffee this morning...it was cold but the sun was out and the neighborhood looked beautiful...

Hope your week is going well and you are getting ready for a fantastic turkey day for those here in the US!

  1. This is so picturesque, do you know how lucky you are? I have lived in Africa all my life and we got about 3cm of snow two years ago i thought i was so lucky, ha ha. This is so beautiful, like something from a story book.

  2. Wow!! Your neighborhood looks like a winter wonderland!!! Sounds like you had a wonderful outing this morning! It's cold here in California, too. They are predicting record-breaking cold for the next couple of days. We are getting an arctic blast from the gulf of Alaska, probably the southern-most end of what you are getting. Stay warm and safe!!

  3. Yep, looks like a winter wonderland. Glad your hubby made it home safe and sound! Take care and stay safe and warm.

  4. I'm with you, no cold weather for me. Even though I was born and raised in Chicago and lived in New York 12 yrs, I do NOT like cold/freezing weather. We are now in Texas (by the way we've been in shorts since Sunday) and you cannot make me go back north in the winter.

  5. WOW that sure looks pretty, wana trade it's HOT here in Miami and the plastic fall leaves are not helping any. Have a happy Thanksgiving!! Love ya.

  6. Happy Thanksgiving! When I tell people that I grew up in Edmonds, north of Seattle, they think rain, lots of rain, not snow. I remember rain, lovely balmy sunny days, and I remember making snowmen in the front yard. Your pictures made me nostalgic. My son in Seattle complains about the snow but he's the wimp having grown up in sunny California. Going to Tahoe wasn't enough to get him used to snow!

  7. Laura,
Thanks for sharing your snow with us in Florida..I'll be shoping with shorts on maybe even go to the pool. He! He! Happy Thanksgiving.

  8. lived in spokane '02-'08. from northern CA. loved the snow but hated the long winter nights. even by spokane standards it's pretty frosty lately. bundle up!

  9. That looks so beautiful! I'm seriously jealous. Even though I lived in Chicago for 12 years, I never got sick of the snow and will miss it this year having moved back to Hawaii. Here we struggle to keep the Christmas tree alive for more than a week. Happy Thanksgiving!

  10. How lovely the snow looks. Thanks for sharing.
