They did it AGAIN!! AAUGGHHHH!!!

Once again, Ustream wiped out all of the older videos......and as I heard from a half dozen of you, while you were watching them!!  **POOF** This time there was no warning other than I knew they would be doing so eventually since they hadn't deleted any since February. Fortunately, my friend and right hand, Joy (aka Zelda on Ustream) has been diligently downloading them and will be posting them up on the Vimeo site where I am uploading the archived video's. She will be posting them as fast as she is able (Trust me, she will post them SIGNIFICANTLY faster than I have been doing with the older ones!) So, rest easy and once again be patient while we get these videos available once again.

Hmmm....... I just got a notice the other day regarding the new version of Livestream. No ads, unlimited storage and at a very reasonable price. The $999 a MONTH that Ustream wants me to pay for the same service....ummmm.....reasonable?......not so much. Maybe it is time to make a bit of a move. Anyone up for a test run? I keep you posted as to when and how to get there.

Still working on the Garden Gate 2 pattern. (My special needs son is having a rough patch and I am spending lots of time on the phone and it has me running behind) The pattern should be up on Wednesday. The last of the kits, with the exception of the Traditional Christmas, will go out today. the Kaisercraft Turtle Dove paper for the Traditional Christmas version is scheduled to arrive by the end of the week and the kits are ready with the exception of the paper so they will go out at the end of the week.

I mean, it looked awesome on the web, but to do it and actually be able to pick it up and really REALLY see it? Trly amazing!! I cannot wait to post in on my blog!!

  2. I'm definitely up for a test run on Livestream! Anything has to be better than Ustream (as you well know). Hope all is better soon for your son.

  3. I am up for a test run, on anything. They did not leave much on your Ustream channel. I am frustrated so you are probably at your wits end.

  9. I was wondering - I was looking at someone's site yesterday and could swear there were 4 pages of videos and today there were two. Then I saw your post! I'm so excited that your older videos are being posted by Joy. I'm dying to watch the Stack the Deck videos and the ones from New Year's Eve bashes. Yay!

By the way, another gal who does papercrafting tutorials uses something called Box to store her older Ustream videos. She has a yearly charge ($29.99) to access those videos (about as many as you), but honestly I don't mind paying it because y'all work very hard on those and you're worth it! Just my $.02....

  11. Wherever you goeth, I shall followeth. I wouldn't mind paying a reasonable price to view your videos, either. This is my entertainment.
Thank you, Joy for being Laura's other hand!
Holding good thoughts for your son, Laura, that he moves thru this rough patch. The teen years can be tough enough but add other issues and well..hang in there.

  12. I'm game for a test run on a new site. I was wondering when they were going to delete some of the videos.

    1. If they had been deleting them all year it would not have been so shocking, but they hadn't taken any down since FEBRUARY!

  13. I was watching Stack the Deck yesterday and left my computer for a few minutes, came back to watch the rest of the video and it was gone...Thank you Laura and Joy for doing what you can to get the videos up and running. I will go where ever the paper trail leads me:)

Thank heavens the project that I'm working on, Shabby Pockets, was not taken off of Ustream.
Your projects are really so great, I'd just like to thank you for giving all of us the opportunity to do them. :)

  17. How frustrating it must be for you! Sometimes, I have to go to your video and watch if I can't figure it out from the pattern. I was going to start on my kit that I purchased from you - the rolling suitcase mini album this weekend! argh Ustream! I am up for a test run on Livestream too! Does Vimeo charge a fee to use? I don't know anything about Vimeo.

    1. There is a fee for Vimeo, but there is no cost to all of you to view the videos. I am determined to keep the videos free to all of you.

  21. I WILL follow you wherever you go! Livestream or anything else. You may need to post on your blog, step-by-BABY-step instructions on how to get to Livestream but I WILL be there! Having gotten MY special needs son (narcolepsy with cataplexy~try telling a 17 yr. old he can't drive) through his teen years, I can empathize. Good thoughts and positive energies are being sent your way. Finally, THANK YOU, JOY! You're a good friend to us all.

  23. Yes Laura, Ustream has been fustrating. I really like being able to revert back to the videos as I am putting the projects together. I really don't think that $29.00 per year is unreasonable if we can continue to have access to past project videos. Just saying. As far as Livestream goes, if you go that route - we will follow!!!!! Hugs to you and all you do for us, and a big hug to Joy for giving you a helping hand as well. She is a sweetheart and a great left hand, right??????!!!!!!!

    1. Not sure what the $29.00 is a reference to???? Cost has absolutely nothing to do with the videos being gone and not yet uploaded. It takes nearly as long to upload them as it does to record them in the first place. I am not asking for anyone to pay anything...only for patience as we work to get them uploaded as quickly as we can. This batch was nearly 90 videos! Last batch was over 200. I wish it was a drag, drop and done process but isn't, it is very time consuming.

  24. Luv 2 Create might be referring to a fee that another designer charges. She started doing that last February when Ustream gave the ultimatum. She kept her videos on, paying Ustream and people can pay $29 if they want to have access to all her videos.

    1. For me to have kept them on Ustream would have cost $999 PER MONTH based on my following and viewership numbers. At that price, not only would I not be able to keep the videos free, I would have to charge way more than $29. I have so many very dear followers that have limited income and resources. Keeping the videos free and available to everyone is very important to me. I am more than happy to pay the reasonable fee at Vimeo in order to keep them available....just wish the process was a faster one.

  26. You are superwoman ! Your a mother, wife, homemaker and run a business! Once in awhile you have to come up for air and depend on those around you. I appreciate the many hours you dedicate to each of us "out here." Thanks to Joy for helping. She is the best kind of friend to have. Thanks again!

  28. Wow, I thought I was going crazy! I tried to go back and watch the Shabby Pockets Ustream and I couldn't find #3. Now I know! That's a shame! Anyway, I just now signed up for a Livestream account from the link you sent from Ustream, so I'm good to go! Just let us know how to find you, please, please! Sending hugs to you, take care, Heather aka mousemomma

  29. Laura, the other ustreamer others are talking about is Paper Phenomenon. she charges $29 for a 1 year membership to her Box channel. Also, Laura your classes are NOT FREE. you have to keep your classes free because in order to do your projects I have to buy the pattern (which I am ok with, i buy them all time). I just want you to stop saying they are free, like you're doing us a favor-- as you say this is your business.

    1. I do not charge for the classes, so they ARE free. I have many people who make the projects or parts of the projects that don't purchase the pattern and that is perfectly fine. It is purely your choice to purchase or not purchase the pattern....it is not a requirement to watch or to participate.
Whether others choose to charge to watch the shows or videos is their right. Some charge, some don't. I have no issue with that. I have simply chosen to not charge.
I am sorry you have issue with my choices. I can't fault you for your choices (including CHOOSING to comment anonymously).

  30. It is always easy to critcize when hiding behind an annonymous post. I don't know why you say the classes aren't free because they are and every measurement is given during the class. I have made several projects from the videos alone so for me they were totally free ...except for the maerials.
There are also several classes that have no patterns and are totally free for all to enjoy. This is the show host's prerogative. What ever another host chooses to do is completley up to them.
Why can't you just say "thank you" for all the effort and enjoy yourself without spewing negatyivity to the rest of us.
Face it...if this was easy...everyone would be doing it. It takes an awful lot of intestinal fortitude to produce an enjoyable class week after week. Yes she does sell kits and patterns...that is her business but try to appreciate that she is trying to keep it free for all viewers to watch the weekly shows. I find that commendable.
I can't see why someone would object to Laura calling it free.I certainly enjoy it and learn so much from watching her. I have paid for many classes in local stores where I knew more than the teacher...
So please be cordial and just say thank you for all the effort.

  31. I was wondering if there was anyway that Joy would be able to post the video's for the vintage camera, as I am in the process of making this as a gift. Thank you for your time and effort Laura and Joy. Many blessings.
