Page-a-Month Class

On last Saturdays Ustream class, I told everyone about the new class I have starting in January. I will be doing a six month series of classes - one Friday a month - to make a complete album including showing you how I do all the embellishing. So many of the classes I do have me showing you how to make the book itself, but not necessarily how I embellish it. This class will give us the opportunity to fully complete an album...from soup to nuts! I am planning a Heritage style of book similar to the "Life Well Lived" mini I made about my Dad. I am hoping to use the Curio paper collection from Basic Grey.

I will have kits and instructions available before the first class in January (along with more details!) and I would love to have some idea of how many of you will be interested in a kit for this project so that I know how much paper and embellishments to order. I estimate the kit to cost between $65 and $75 US and it will include all the paper and embellishments to complete the album as well as the instructions. I have posted a "poll" over on the side bar of the blog to give me some idea of how many are interested. I will have more than that number for those who start late and or decide later, but I gotta order supplies this week.

I am REALLY excited about this class series. If all goes well, we will start a different album in July (thru Dec) with two different paper/color options.

  3. Laura, that would be so much fun! I have been really busy, so I have missed your last few classes. I am wondering if you are still going to have a class every Friday night, in addition to the Friday you are going to work on this book. Or have you decided to just have your class once a month. I would totally be interested in buying this kit. I hope the kiddos are doing okay. I am so hoping to sit down next Friday and join your class...I so need it:)

    Big Hugs,
    Stephanie

  4. I will still be doing a class every Friday...this one will tentatively be the 3rd Friday each month. I will be posting the album as soon as it is done. You can check out one of my first YouTube video's of "A Life Well Lived" to get an idea of the style of the album (it will have different papers)

  6. This is a great idea. I enjoy this type of project because you know going in that you have deadlines, but plenty of time to complete them and that there are others doing the same project.
Always fun to work on a craft with others.
    Count me in too!

  8. Oh, I'm so excited about this I can't type. I would love to do the class. I watch (and rewatch) all of your UStreams (and vidoes). I love, love, love your designs and tutorials. Martha and Tim should hire you as a designer.

Sending prayers to you and your family.

  11. Instead of it being "heritage" personally I'd rather it be kind of a 'what my life is like this month" kind of thing. A way to show your kids growing/what your life is about--but I'm sure I could work it to match that with what you're doing--
can't wait! hope I get to actually watch your show for once--it's been months since I've been able to!

  12. Not to many of my family memories. Album of my children, Completing the police acadamy, becoming a manager at Mcdonalds, buy her first car, the struggle of finding another job, school, rabbit shows.. So proud of them. I will start to get all the items together to put in the album. You have helped me bring this project from the back burner to the front burner. Thank You. Can't wait to get started. Fun Fun Fun. PS hate to cook, maybe all the years of being a lunch lady (not Ruth Buzzy)
    Thank You
    Margaret

  19. I"m sure I already know the answer to this question but I thought I would ask just to be sure but...will you have just the pattern available by itself? This sounds like a lot of fun but I would like to use my own embellishments. Just curious!

  20. Absolutely I will have the pattern available outside of the kit. Not everyone wants to or is able to purchase a kit! LOL!

  22. Laura, I love this idea. I can create the albums you demonstrate but I have a REAL hard time embellishing them, this class would be great for me. I love the idea of the Heritage mine and doing one page a month. I work so I cannot watch you shows "live" but I watch and rewatch you recordings on UStream.

    Thanks, Carol
