On last Saturdays Ustream class, I told everyone about the new class I have starting in January. I will be doing a six month series of classes - one Friday a month - to make a complete album including showing you how I do all the embellishing. So many of the classes I do have me showing you how to make the book itself, but not necessarily how I embellish it. This class will give us the opportunity to fully complete an album...from soup to nuts! I am planning a Heritage style of book similar to the "Life Well Lived" mini I made about my Dad. I am hoping to use the Curio paper collection from Basic Grey.
I will have kits and instructions available before the first class in January (along with more details!) and I would love to have some idea of how many of you will be interested in a kit for this project so that I know how much paper and embellishments to order. I estimate the kit to cost between $65 and $75 US and it will include all the paper and embellishments to complete the album as well as the instructions. I have posted a "poll" over on the side bar of the blog to give me some idea of how many are interested. I will have more than that number for those who start late and or decide later, but I gotta order supplies this week.
I am REALLY excited about this class series. If all goes well, we will start a different album in July (thru Dec) with two different paper/color options.

Hi laura love the idea but would like to see an idea of what it would look like
ReplyDeleteLaura, that's so exciting! I always wanted to see how you decide on cover embelishments, etc.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun!!
Laura, that would be so much fun! I have been really busy, so I have missed your last few classes. I am wondering if you are still going to have a class every Friday night, in addition to the Friday you are going to work on this book. Or have you decided to just have your class once a month. I would totally be interested in buying this kit. I hope the kiddos are doing okay. I am so hoping to sit down next Friday and join your class...I so need it:)
ReplyDeleteBig Hugs,
Stephanie
I will still be doing a class every Friday...this one will tentatively be the 3rd Friday each month. I will be posting the album as soon as it is done. You can check out one of my first YouTube video's of "A Life Well Lived" to get an idea of the style of the album (it will have different papers)
ReplyDeleteThis should be alot of fun. Count me in Laura. I always look forward to your next project knowing you always deliver ! Thanks so much for all your inspiration. Best !
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea. I enjoy this type of project because you know going in that you have deadlines, but plenty of time to complete them and that there are others doing the same project.
ReplyDeleteAlways fun to work on a craft with others.
Count me in too!
Awesome idea, and have voted for a kit, you just blow me away with your awesome idea's Laura, one in a million.
ReplyDeleteLove to all the family, and hope the kid's are doing well.

Oh, I'm so excited about this I can't type. I would love to do the class. I watch (and rewatch) all of your UStreams (and vidoes). I love, love, love your designs and tutorials. Martha and Tim should hire you as a designer.
ReplyDeleteSending prayers to you and your family.
What a wonderful idea --I just love it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful idea Laura, now maybe I can actually finish an album. Looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteYour still in my thoughts and definitely in my prayers.
Instead of it being "heritage" personally I'd rather it be kind of a 'what my life is like this month" kind of thing. A way to show your kids growing/what your life is about--but I'm sure I could work it to match that with what you're doing--
ReplyDeletecan't wait! hope I get to actually watch your show for once--it's been months since I've been able to!
Not to many of my family memories. Album of my children, Completing the police acadamy, becoming a manager at Mcdonalds, buy her first car, the struggle of finding another job, school, rabbit shows.. So proud of them. I will start to get all the items together to put in the album. You have helped me bring this project from the back burner to the front burner. Thank You. Can't wait to get started. Fun Fun Fun. PS hate to cook, maybe all the years of being a lunch lady (not Ruth Buzzy)
ReplyDeleteThank You
Margaret
Oh my goodness Laura this is so exciting! Btw,I am finally in the States now and I will have a ton of new memories to create with my relocation, and catching up with family members! Count me in on this one and whats more, I don't need to pay for international shipping anynore!!
ReplyDeleteI would love to take part in this project, would it be possible to have a list of "standard" tools you would also need to take part so I can start putting together everything I would need. Many thanks and warmest christmas wishes :)
ReplyDeleteohhhh this is soooo awesome!!!! Hope I am back to work by then I am still on medical leave....joy!!!! If not I will have to be super nice to hubby....another joy!!!! I can do it for you Laura!

Brenda
Hi Laura! Count me in! I can't wait to get started!
ReplyDeleteBrenda, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI gotcha! Say hello to -- Joy! -- for me! She is another...joy!!!!
Sounds like a good idea but won't be able to follow on direct!
ReplyDelete:(
I"m sure I already know the answer to this question but I thought I would ask just to be sure but...will you have just the pattern available by itself? This sounds like a lot of fun but I would like to use my own embellishments. Just curious!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely I will have the pattern available outside of the kit. Not everyone wants to or is able to purchase a kit! LOL!
ReplyDeletelaura
Hi Laura, this sounds like so much fun, please count me in. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLaura, I love this idea. I can create the albums you demonstrate but I have a REAL hard time embellishing them, this class would be great for me. I love the idea of the Heritage mine and doing one page a month. I work so I cannot watch you shows "live" but I watch and rewatch you recordings on UStream.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carol
aww I knew you would get me Joy!!!! lol Hubby gave me the go ahead....yippppeeee
ReplyDeleteI think he is sooo happy to see me crafting again thank you sooo much Laura you have been such a blessing to me!
hugs
Brenda

I will have a finished book available before the kits are up for sale.
ReplyDeleteCount me in, please!
ReplyDeleteLaura, I would be interested in this project and would love to be able to incorporate your ideas and techniques while using up my own stash. do you think this project would easily allow me to do that? I just love following your blog and your great ideas......
