Update on Sarah...10/21

Sarah is doing a bit better today. She had a drain put in surgically to drain the abcess. She will have it in for about 3 to 5 days. After that she will be on antibiotics for a few weeks. They won't actually take out her appendix for a month or two. She was able to sit in a chair for about an hour and walked a bit. She has had incredible care here (Mary Bridge Children's Hospital rocks!) and the nurses and doctors are all impressed with how tough she is!! She got a visit from a therapy dog that brought out a big smile.

We have SOOOO appreciated all the well wishes and prayers. It means more than I can ever espress!!

Laura

PS Trevor is doing better as well...he was back at school today...I'm sure he was milking the crutches!!!

  29. Laura, Thanks for the update on both Sarah and Trevor. Glad to know that both are on the road to recovery. When I saw Sarah in that bed all I could think about was how small she looks or how young. I bet that she is not 10 going on 16 right now. I imagine all she wants is her mommy right now. Have you been spending nights with her or are you able to come home? I know when my daughter was in the hospital I spent nights in the chair beside her, it was the only way she got any rest and didn't spend the night crying. (Of course she was a bit younger, but no matter how old you are when you are sick, you want your mother.)Take care of yourself as well. You don't want to get sick as well.

  31. Prayers on the way for you and Sarah and Trevor and the DAD. My grandson was on crutches last month from a skateboarding accident. A week later I looked out the window and he was riding his skateboard down the hill using his crutches to propel himself. I sat down and had a cup of coffee. So glad she is in good hands.

  39. I'm so sorry to hear about Sarah's surgery! I'm glad she and Trevor are doing better, and I hope they continue to do so. Does Sarah have anything to do while she's stuck in bed? My kids and I just learned a new game; Name _. Examples would be; name the first 5 presidents, name 3 farm animals, ext. My 3yr old got the farm one and my 7yr old got the presidents. Everyone takes turns asking questions and answering. It was a lot of fun.
