What's Up Wednesday! 6/16/10... after all!

I decided to look at my wallet theft as an opportunity, not just a nightmare! When a thief gives you lemons....make lemonade, or in this case, a wallet! This one was made out of TH Grunge Paper, TH filmstrip, and Capri Sun juice pouches with alcohol ink. It was a fun escape for an hour and came out great. Sarah thought I was totally nuts when I was washing the juice boxes and said I was going to make a wallet. The look she gave me was priceless!

Since I didn't sleep much last night, I was up at 4am and made a baby mini using one of the Special Delivery Baby MIni Kits (the Classic version) for Sarah's teacher (his wife is due over the summer). I had it done by 9:30....amazing what adrenaline and stress induced insomnia will do! Here's a slide show. Didn't use all the details available from the kit, but it came out sweet anyway!

Have an awesome week...I know mine will only get better!!

Laura

  1. Dear Laura,
Artists usually come up with wonderful new ideas especially after a psychological trauma, you know. I think that's what happened to you. Yours is not a trauma (thank God) but it tired you, I guess. But the outcome is going to make many people and you happy! I hope it won't happen again...

  2. Love the saying "When life gives you lemons make lemonade". I must remember that!. Sorry about your wallet, but good for you to pick yourself up and not to let it get you down too much.

  10. So sorry to hear about your wallet. That is SO stressful! I feel your pain. But I LOVE your new wallet!!! Such a cute idea to use the film strip as a closure. Everyone's going to want to know where you got it. You may need to put some up for sale in your Etsy store (and carry slips of paper with your Etsy address in your wallet)!! : )

  11. You are one AMAZING woman! In the midst of crisis...... you come up with more new designs! Kudo's to you and I'm sorry for the nightmare of the stollen wallet. Seems there is a lot of that going on lately. My neighbor's just got stollen as well and turned up that someone through it back in her back yard--- MINUS the $ and 2 credit cards!

  12. Dear Laura,

I just love your enthusiasm and your sense of fun, and how tremendously up-beat you are after the terrible trauma of being robbed. You are a tonic to us all! and this beautiful, beautiful little wallet! How clever is that??

Being fairly new to papercrafting, I am just getting into Tim Holtz's stuff and wondered what you could use the grunge paper sheets for. I don't know what it feels like, having only seen it on Youtube, but it looks exactly like leather on your wallet! I love what you've done with the edge, and the gorgeous flower decorations too. How waterproof is grunge paper?

I think you are quite tremendous to make such delicious lemonade from such bitter lemons! Good on ya, gal. Just terrific! Wow.
