No What's Up Wednesday for 6/16/2010

I'm sorry but there won't be a What's up Wednesday this week. My wallet was stolen last night and I have the fun nightmare of spending today replacing all the goodies and tidbits we all carry in our wallet.
AAuuuugggghhhh!
At least we got the lady on survellience video!! Got all the cards cancelled so that's covered. The worst one out of the bunch is getting a new Driver's License!! (on the bright side, maybe the picture will be better!!) Gotta replace the grocery store cards, and the Costco card and the.....Oh man, I just realized that they got all my punch cards for the quilt shops and scrap stores AND my Subway punch card....and I had a FREE one on there!
I'm am so bummed!

  1. Dear Laura,
As one of your fans I would like to say: good luck. I'm very sorry you got robbed. Hope that is the correct word because my English is not very good. I'm from Holland (the Netherlands) you see.
Hope everything will work out ok in the end.
Love your videos and I watch them every week !
    Hugs,
    Jolande from Holland

  4. Oooh Laura, I'm so sorry to hear you got robbed - that's really terrible. However, you sound amazingly up-beat and positive about it and are obviously maintaining your sense of humour!

Sometimes bags and purses turn up later, with the money and credit cards removed, but everything else intact - because it isn't worth anything to the criminal and they can't sell it. There's always hope, I suppose... In the UK sometimes people hand such things in to the police station and you can claim them.

    You take care.

  6. What a terrible thing to have happen. Many years ago I had my wallet taken and it's a terrible feeling. It will take a while before you realize everything that was in there. I would go to get something or show my daughters picture to someone only to remember it was gone. Hope your week gets better and we look forward to next weeks "What's up Wednesday".

  11. sorry..i had this happen to me a long time ago..dont forget along with the police reports to call the big 3 creditors and place a fraud alert. That way any new accounts have to be verified first. It also helps slow all those nasty inquiries.

Have "fun" today getting the pieces of our lives back in order. Again I'm sorry this happened.

  12. Sorry to hear this happened, even though it is frustrating to report, make calls, etc. and all that it is involved...on the positive side nothing happened to you, and that is the most important thing.

  13. Last weekend someone stole the front license plate off of our truck!!! I can't believe people, they could put all of that energy into doing good, not evil! Sorry about this, sending you some good vibes for an easy time getting things straightened out!

  17. I am so sorry this happened to you, but I'm so glad you are personally safe. This has happened to so many of my friends, that I do not carry a purse anymore. I have everything in a small wallet and I put everything else in my pockets. I was surprised that I really did not miss hauling around that purse.

    Prayers for your sanity!

  21. Oh wow so sorry to hear this! Something very similar happen to my step-mother and it not only taught her a lesson but myself. Most of us woman carry Many many items in our wallets and when and event like this happens it's not always easy to remember just exactly what was all in it. I have a journal card with a list of all the cards I carry in my wallet so if I should ever lose/misplace/or like your situation it gets stolen I know who to call and have the account numbers. This would be a fabulous project opportunity for you to think upon. I hope they are able to identify the thief from the video and she is held accountable. If local authorities can not God sure will.

  22. How unsetteling is that...one of the best tips I got was to make a copy of the card I had in my wallet front and back... put that in a safe place...I hoped I would never have to use it..but I did back in '05...It was great...I was in Fla. attending a friends funeral and My hubby was in MI...I was able to act fast to put a stop to any unauthorised use...with no ID I wasn't able to fly home...but because I had a police report I was able to fly out the next day. So I'm really hoping things go smoothly for you.

  29. I am soooo sorry for your loss. I can feel your pain. As a side note, I LOVE your stuff and am so impressed with your creativity and talent. Now, about your punch cards....if you have a copy of the police report, take it to the stores you go to and tell them about how much you had on the cards, they should honor it. I took the police report to my favorite stores and all but one took my word for what I thought was on the cards. If you go there enough to have a card, chances are they know you well enough to trust you. Just a thought. Luckily, here in Kansas, they just use the picture on your last license and send you a new one. Good luck!

  30. Oh, I am sooo sorry for your loss. What a horrible mess. That happened to me awhile back. I now, only carry copies of pictures in my wallet, made photo copies of all cards (credit, insurance, etc). If you have a police report, you should be able to take it to the places you have punch cards for. Show them the report and let them know about what you had on the cards. All but one gave me new punch cards for what I said. If you visit there enough to have a punch card, they should know you well enough to trust you. Good luck! I cannot thank you enough for all your creativity and talent and that you share it so freely with us!

Sorry to hear what happened. It's a big pain in the rear to cancel and replace everything. I was traveling once with a group of 4 and we had all our wallets stolen and left with zero money and was in another state. Not fun.... Hope they catch the person that did it.

  44. I so sorry to hear what happen to you. You are such a wonderful happy go lucky individual. Nothing make me more mad then when someone steals as we all work so hard today for what we have, then we have coward who can be so bold to steal from someone, and take something they are not entitled to. It gets my blood boiling. I hope with her on video they can catch her and maybe somhow, someway you can get back your purse for the things that wouldn't matter to her. Again so sorry, but glad you were not hurt either. I beleive those who do wrong in life get back two folds for something they do wrong. On a happier note thanks for all your wonderful and creative idea you create and share with all of us, your the best

  45. Oh noooo!! I know how that feels. My purse was stolen once. I was so mad! I tried running after him but it was snowy and cold and I had been standing at a bus stop for half an hour waiting for the bus, which was late. When I tried running after him my feet were so frozen I could barely walk let alone run. A curse upon your thief! May Karma bite her back soon.
