got it! thanks so much, Laura! Bought another while I was in there...that's a bad bad place for me to be in....I want them all! Put your foot up...when I was in a boot, I propped it up in a little trash can when I was sitting at my scrap table! Worked well! LOL!
A quick question:: I've been making your albums for some time now and I keep seeing the same problem arise; once the cover is made the paper I use will crack at the binding. This may have been brought up before? I've tried covering it with another layer of paper (it cracks again) & the TYPE of paper doesn't seem to completely stop it either. Though thicker paper doesn't crack as much. How do you keep your albums from doing this?? Thank you!!
Make sure that the joint is a MINIMUM of two thicknesses of your chipboard. Don't be afraid to be a little generous with the space. When the joint is too tight, it stresses the paper and it cracks.
Mae.. I hope Laura doesn't mind my adding another hint for you. Be sure to score the papers before trying to close the book. And you can use as a binding (the pink section in Lara's picture above)support, peel & stick Linen Hinging Tape. It's usually used to hinge mats over artwork for framing. You can find it in full art supply or framing stores. Probably in bookbinding supplies area. Just apply to the back side of the paper. It's like a very thin fabric. Also use on the inside piece as well if you're making a book like the Stack the Deck.
Thanks so much for the hints! I now realize that you're totally correct Laura. Its only on binding where my spaces are quite small. And I hadn't been taking the time to score them either, which could just make it worse. SO glad to have this figured out!
Congratulations Laura for making the G45 team! So happy for you and can't wait to see the projects you will create for them. C u tonite on Ustream! Ella aka cmella04
Congratulations Laura for getting to round 2. You'll be on the team, I've looked at all the finalists and you're head and shoulders above most. You'll be busy now getting the next bit done - good luck!
Laura, congrats on the top 30 and I also want you to know how much I am enjoying making this album. Looking forward to 3 & 4! Thanks for your creativity. . .
What paper line did you use on the book in your tutorial? I love it, but can't find anywhere you mention it. Also, when attaching the envelopes and base pages to the fins do we glue/tape both sides of the fin? I don't find that in the tutorial, but may be overlooking it. Thanks

My Angel Policy
I allow the sale of up to 10 completed albums of a design when you are the direct seller in a personal situation such as a craft fair or to friends and acquaintances. I ask that you do not sell to a third party for sale (i.e. a shop, boutique, or similar) or via the internet (on sites such as Etsy and Ebay) as it would put you in direct competition with me.

ReplyDeleteThis is a good tip. I have never needed to add anything to back side however if you allow enough space.
