CHA Projects...
I was VERY honored wen Tim Holtz asked me to design some projects for his booth at CHA. I cleared the decks of EVERYTHING... except my family... for a week and a half. I was able to complete 3 projects.
The first picked up on the sewing theme in some of the new products to create a sewing box... the mini fits in the bottom of the box...
Next, with a more masculine flavor, was a Mantle Clock.... the mini fits behind the "leaded" doors at the bottom
Lastly, I HAD to make a vintage valaise!... in the mini, I used photo's from my bother's safari trip to South Africa....
I had SOOOO much fun making these projects. Each of them used Tim's Configurations boxes for the base. As I told him in one email....I like to think outside the box...cuz I want use the box to make something!
I will video and photograph the projects in the booth and post them here on the blog and on YouTube. See you tonight!

HI Laura!
ReplyDeleteYou are the QUEEN when it comes to using the TH Configuration Boxes. I love them all!
Laura, there are no words to describe those projects. You simply took my breath away!!!
ReplyDeleteOMS! These are some of the most fantastic projects EVER!
ReplyDeleteJust today, while constructing a 1947 gown for the play, Blithe Spirit, I was wishing I still had my sewing box with all the necessary paraphernalia at hand. Now I think: I don't want mine, I DEFINITELY want YOURS! (at least, one like it :D)
The mantle clock is beautiful, my favorite aspects being the marble columns and the clear face!
And the valise is just a 'gotta have it'! With my children teaching Swing Dance, they travel to Seattle (!) for workshops; wouldn't this be a wonderful gift for their instructor at Camp Jitterbug?! (I could 'stow away' inside and come to one of YOUR CLASSES :D)
You are so clever and talented. Wishing you the best time of your life @ CHA!
Teri "Terrific" (cookiefootmama)

ReplyDeleteWhat I can I say that hasn't already been said, when I saw these projects all I could do was just keep looking at them. You told us during one of your classes these were probably your best work. WOW!! WOW!! WOW!! is all I can say. You truly out did yourself. I knew what ever you did would be fantastic, but these are best designed mini or albums I have ever seen. Not to put down Mr Holtz, but these I would have to say are even anything better than I have seen him do. You had to have knocked his socks off when he saw these 3 albums. I certainly hope you can maybe do a kit or instruction for them. You are the most creative person I have ever had the pleasure to follow. You continue to always amaze all of. Keep up the great work and I only wish you to grow and thrive in your business. Annette Aka Purplegirl092859

ReplyDeleteHello Laura,
ReplyDeleteI saw some of your video's in the past on youtube and learned from it, but I 've never been to your blog, until now...
I don't know where to look first !!
I enlarged every photo and savoured all the details : the use of the little boxes, the color schemes, the little details ( like pieces of photostrips where the bookrings are, the "world" map on a roll in the mantlepiece,...)
honestly said... for me you are at least as good as Tim in inventing and creating !!!
You have a large imagination, indeed to think out of the box, but what you create with it is stunning.
