What's Up Wednesday! 3/24/2010
Check out these "Glass" Flower's!!
As many of you know from my mini's and video's, I'm loving punched flowers these days! I was playing around the flowers and UTEE in my melting pot and "glass" flowers were born.
To make these you will need punched flowers in a couple of sizes and/or shapes, UTEE and a Melting Pot by Ranger, a non-stick matt, Glossy accents by Ranger and/or a heat gun, tweezers and some embossing ink.
Use embossing ink to coat the tips of your tweezers to reduce how much UTEE sticks to them.
Punch your flowers in the card stock or patterned paper of you choice
Shape the flowers by folding or curling petals
Dip each flower section separately in the melted UTEE. Be careful it's HOT!!
After the flower sections cool. Trim any excess UTEE. You can heat the flowers with your heat gun to "remove" and blemishes.
Layer flowers and glue with Glossy Accents.
Alternately, you can layer and heat with the heat tool to meld the sections together.
Add bling and stickles to flower centers
Here I made a rose using the Tim Holtz method. I dipped each section before assembling the layers.
These flowers can be used on scrapbook layouts, Mini books, Photo Frames, Easter Baskets or other altered items.
Have fun playing with these and have an awesome week!

What's Up Wednesday! March 17, 2010
Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
It's also What's Up Wednesday!!
Have a super easy mini album page for you to make!
It uses a half sheet of 12" x 12" for each page. This can be solid card stock or patterned paper.
Cut paper to 6" x 12". Score 1/2" on each side and at 6" across the width.
Trim away 1/2" from each side as shown.
Fold on score lines.
For a binding flange, cut a 2" x 4" piece of card stock. Score, fold, and adhere in half. Punch holes for rings or Bind-It-All.
Insert binding Flange in between layers of pouch. Use your favorite adhesive to create a "pouch" page. Cut a semi circle finger pull at top edge with a punch.
Add patterned paper and embellishments.
Have an awesome week!!

Ustream Class Today!
Come join us for the Ustream LIVE class at 4 pm PST (GMT -8) to make a Paper Bag Mini Album similar to my Strike A Pose Mini!
Here's the link: Take me to the LIVE show!
At the beginning , as people are logging in, things get a bit choppy! I won't start the actual class for a few minutes to let things even out. I will be recording the show for those of you who can't attend.
You will need to log in if you want to participate in the chat, but you don't need to log in just to watch.
See you there!!!

Ustream Recordings
Several of you have contacted me about not being able to view the recordings of my past shows on Ustream. I have found out that Ustream is having a "known issue regarding playback of recorded videos" and they are working to resolve the "issue". I will be recording this Saturday's class, so hopefully they will have it resolved by then.
Also, if you have a denim cover for your Strike a Pose Kit (the Blue awning ones) you will NOT need to paint them. They will be applied the same way, just not painted.
Looking forward to Saturday!

Saturday Class Info
If you are planning to join us for the Paper Bag Mini album class (similar to my Strike A Pose Album) this Satuday at 4pm PST, here is a list of items for those of you who don't have a kit and want to put together your own materials. (The canvas I use is called Canvas Duck and is available at most fabric stores.)
This is what I included in all the kits. This is significantly more paper than you will need, but I like to have choices. You can use any embellishments you want or have on hand.
14-6x6 pattern papers
6-6x6 cardstock papers
8 paper bags
2 chipboard covers (4" x 6")
A 4" x 16" piece of canvas for the cover
A 3" x 48" strip of canvas cut into 8 - 3" x 6" tags
6-18" ribbons
Assorted 18" fibers
12" flat lace
12" ruffled lace
Large and small 3D butterfly, dragonfly or bee
2 acetate die cut flower shapes
chipboard stamp frame
2 coordinating die cuts
4 tickets (2 Tim Holtz, 2 tickets)
2 lace sections for tags
1" ring
TH fragment
4 paper clips (2 std, 2 shaped)
2 charms
4-6 buttons
3 colors of bling
TH swivel clasp
6-8 brads
10 flowers (7 lg/med, 3 small)
In addition to the above items (and for those WITH the kit), you may need:
All items marked with (*) are optional
-You favorite glues and adhesives. I use the red backed Terrifically Tacky Tape to assemble the album. A fabric glue is helpful but not necessarily required.
-Any inks and rubber/clear stamps you would like to use*
-Stickles*
-Glimmer mist*
-White Gesso or liquid Acrylic, tan liquid acrylic (warm beige), taupe liquid acrylic (cool, pinky beige) pale accent (pale blue, pale green, pale pink, or pale peach) These will be used to paint the canvas. I suggest that you pre-paint these items (I have a video tutorial on YouTube on how to do this)
-Glossy Accents*
We won't be able to COMPLETE the album during the class, but I will demonstrate assembling the album as well as embellishing the tags and the album pages. The class will be recorded on Ustream for those unable to attend as well as to review later for those who can join us.
Here is the link to the templates for the tags. click here
See you on Saturday!!
