A BIG shout out.....

I have a BIG shout out to give to one of my AWESOME followers - Melissa Merrit (aka missa424 on Ustream).

Melissa has made a listing of ALL of my Ustream shows with show titles, archive page numbers, and whether or not there is a pattern available for that show! WOWZA! This was a TON of work and I give huge hugs and mucho Thank You"s on behalf of myself and all of the Ustreamer's.

I can truly say that we have the most GENEROUS and giving people on the internet in our amazing little community. I quite literally burst into tears when she sent this to me....I know how much work this was to put together. She has posted it over on my Ning site and will keep it updated. Please send your Thank You's to Melissa.

The countdown is on for leaving for CHA. I am finishing up the last bits and pieces of samples that I am carrying down with me. Whew! It has been a crazy week weather-wise and otherwise around here. Looking forward to getting some sleep while in Anaheim (yea, right!).

I will be posting my projects here on Sunday. I am allowed to show them as soon as the actual show starts so I will schedule the blog posting for Sunday morning. We will also be doing a Ustream show Sunday evening from Anaheim....keep an eye out here and on my Facebook and Twitter for details!

What a Week!

Wow! It has been a wild and crazy week. The Pacific Northwest has been hit by a series of severe storms. We have had it all! Snow, freezing rain, ice, hail, huge wind and power outages. We were fortunate to have lost power for only 2 days....some in the area have been out for over 6 days! We have power crews here from around the country. We have had very mild winters for a few years....I guess it all caught up to us in just one week!

The timing, for me, could not have been worse. Trying to keep up with my CHA obligations as well as my Ustream classes while having my kids home for 10 days straight and the loss of power has been a big challenge. As a result, my schedule is having to flex a bit. I am having to cancel my Ustream class for today, Wednesday (as my regulars know, I RARELY cancel my classes) but I will have class on Friday night. We will begin a Valentines project then. I am sliding the Gatefold Envelope Stack the Deck (and the pattern for it) until after CHA. I am sorry to have to delay this, but in order to give the pattern and class the attention it deserves, I have to flex the schedule. Thank you all for understanding! I will miss you all today!

Slip and Slide!!

The beautiful snow ended yesterday and in true Pacific Northwest fashion, the rain began....FREEZING rain. Western Washington now resembles a popsicle! We are coated in layer of ice EVERYWHERE. Schools are closed, roads are beyond awful, and power is out all over from falling trees. Fortunately we have underground utilities, so outr power is still on.....I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Ustream was uncooperative near the end of yesterday's show. I tried for half and hour to get back in after being knocked out. I was getting messages I had never seen before, so I suspect that it had to do with the internet protest activity that was going on yesterday. We will start on friday where we left off.

As I noted during the show, I am moving the start of the Gatefold Envelope Stack the Deck to next Wednesday's regular show. With my kids (and husband) home for nearly a week due to the holiday and the weather, I am behind on getting the Stack the Deck 2 pattern done and up on the website. That, combined with my CHA samples deadlines, will delay the release of the pattern until early next week. Thank you for your patience. All kits ordered prior to yesterday have been shipped. Orders from yesterday will go out as soon as the roads are safe.

I am SOOO excited to show you what I have been working on for Graphic 45 and Tim Holtz for CHA!! I think they are some of my best work ever and hope you thin so too. I will start posting them each day starting on Sunday, Jan 29th while I am in LA for CHA. I will also be tweeting and posting on Facebook and Youtube while there. The excitement is building!! ( I am trying to keep the panic about getting done from taking hold!!)

Snow Day!

We are being hammered by an unusual snow storm with a BIG storm due to hit on Wednesday. We don't usually have much snow here in the Pacific Northwest coastal areas, so it causes all sorts of problems when the flakes fly. Schools are closed and the roads are awful. I did manage to get out to the post office and ship out kits and prizes from New Years. Phew!

I am running a couple of days behind on the Stack the Deck 2 pattern and I am hoping to have it up by sometime Wednesday, if possible. Kids home really throws off my schedule!

Ustream class will be as scheduled tomorrow at Noon Pacific time.

Fold Over Paper Bag Mini.....

Here is what you will need for this EASY mini:

6 Paper Bags (lunch sack style)
Card stock for binding strips, tags, and accent mattes
Patterned paper, single or double sided, 12 x 12 or 6 x 6
Chipboard for cover and spine
Embellishments to enhance your theme

SQUEAL!! It's here!!!

The box from Tim has arrived!! **SQUEAL**!!!

I am honored to once again design for the Tim Holtz Ideology booth at CHA-W in Anaheim in a couple of weeks. The new product arrived yesterday! I can't tell you what is in the box...you CAN"T make me talk! LOL! My standard answer for those who ask about the new stuff is "You won't be disappointed!" and it's REALLY true....

I am working as fast as I can to clear the decks and get samples and patterns done for the next few Ustream classes so that I can dive into this box! It is sitting there calling my name and have to keep telling it to wait.....

For tomorrow's Ustream class, The Distress Ink Organizer, I have decided NOT to do a pattern and give out all the dimensions on the show instead. I may decide to write it up in the future as part of the Let's Get Organized series. Here is the supply list for class tomorrow.

- Ideology Configuration Box(es): 8.75" x 10.5" (holds 18 Distress ink) or 6.75" x 8.75" (holds 12 Distress inks)
- (4) 12 x 12 or (8) 8 1/2 x 11 medium weight chipboard
- A pad of Coredinations Distress Card stock or simular

Ink Pad Organizer

Here is the first project in the Let's Get Organized Series: an Ink Pad Organizer! I will be making this during my Ustream class on Friday. They are made from Ideaology Configurations boxes and Coredination Distress Ink Card Stock.

Each box can hold up to 18 colors. Use two boxes to hold all 36. They can sit on your desk or insert chipbard panels, add the removable strap,s and you can take your inks with you to class or on retreat or store them away in a tidy package. During class I will make a small version (same exact construction) to make one that holds 12 ink pads....perfect for the seasonal inks!

New Years Eve Scrap Bash Project

The pattern is available on my website. I am enjoying the fun and bright colors of the Basic Gray Indie Bloom paper collection.

This is a fun project with telescoping pages that have a TON of real estate. The festivities start Saturday night at 8 pm Pacific time. We will be working on the project with breaks to give away a bunch of prizes from out amazing sponsors.

On the Tenth Day, I made a gift card holder for that last SECOND gift:

On the Eleventh Day, I made Paper Punched Napkin Rings for our Holiday table.

And,on the Twelfth Day I made a Mix and Match Table Top Album that uses ANY and all sizes of envelopes. I will be showing how to make this one in more detail on December 30th during my regular Ustream show at 7pm.

I hope you have enjoyed these projects as much as I did. (I caught a cold in the middle and got behind, but pulled it off at the end!!) Doing this each year is my small way of saying thank you to all of you for your support throughout the year. I am so blessed to have so many friends all over the world!!

Kits for this are available on my website and will start shipping out on Friday. For my Canadian friends I am now offering two shipping options: 1) The same USPS service offered in the past. Shipping time can vary greatly. 2) Fed Ex Ground shipping. This option is a bit more expensive but it is only 5 business days to most locations.

Tomorrow, EVERYONE is home, so I will have to ban them from upstairs to get wrapping done. Where are those PINK Elves when I need them.....

On the EIGHTH Day of Christmas Projects...

...I made a FAST Beaded Matchbook Mini Album! This one is quick to make for a last minute (okay...maybe an hour two!) gift.

Here's how to make one for yourself:

Cut a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" card stock for each page of the album. Score and fold at 2 1/8" in from each side. Also, score at 3/4" up from the bottom edge. The two wings should fold in and but up to each other without overlap. Punch the top edge if desired.

Add a 4" x 4" patterned paper matte to both sides.

Add a journaling spot or embellishments to the pages.

Punch holes in the binding edge of all pages. Punch about 1" in from each edge.

Make a 4" x 6" tag for each page pocket. Add patterned paper to the tags if you wish.

For the wrapped cover, cut (2) 4 1/2" x 6 1/2", (2) 3/4" x 4 1/2" and a 1 3/4" x 4 1/2" chip board pieces. Attach these to patterned paper as shown, allowing a 1/2" overhang on all sides and a two-thickness-of-chipboard gap between chipboard pieces. (Seam paper at center of main spine)

Wrap overhang around edges and add lining paper to the inside. Punch holes to match pages in the 3/4" sections of the cover.

Thread a ribbon from the back and through the pages, adding the pages with Pony beads between pages for spacing.

Tie off the ribbon on the front cover.

Add embellishment to the spine to cover the seam in the cover paper. Add a title and embellishments to the cover if you wish.

On the SEVENTH Day of Christmas Projects 2011....

...I made Paper Charms with punched circles.

To create the Tree charm, punch 4 circles: 1 1/4", 1 1/2", 1 3/4" and 2". You will also need a Ideology Memo Pin or beading head pin. Cut all the circles in half along the center line.

To create the Angel charm, you will need three 2 1/4" half circles and a 1 1/2" scalloped circle cut in half. In addition to the Memo Pin or beading head pin, you will also need a pearl headed pin for the angel face. Check out the video for how to assemble the charms.

These charms can be made into necklaces, or charms for albums, tags or as Christmas tree ornaments.

This was made from a Graphic 45 Altered Art Box, some vellum and punches and those nifty battery operated voltive candles. Check out this video to find out how to make your own!!

Check back later today for the 6th Day of Christmas project as I try to get back on track. We had a fun family weekend putting up our tree and I didn't spend as much time in the studio. Now the trick is to keep the kittens OUT of the tree for their fist Christmas!!

Stack The Deck Mini Album Series Pattern is up.....

The Stack the Deck Mini Album Series pattern is up on the website. I will be following this pattern for the next two projects on Ustream. This takes the albums shown on my 12 Projects of Christmas to a higher level. It contains instruction for FOUR different album versions. Tonight we will make the paper Bag version and next week we will make the Flaps and Pockets version.

ON the THIRD Day of Christmas Projects....

...I made a Message Center. This message center is created form an Ideology Printer Tray. You won't use all of the configurable insert boxes, so I will show you how you can use those with tomorrow's project.

It has a perpetual calender at the top, a write-on surface. cork message strips, memorabilia niche's, and bottom trays for coins, keys, etc.

Here is how to make it:

Remove all the configurable box inserts from the tray. You will need two 1 3/4" x 2 3/4" and a 1 3/4" x 5 1/2" box for the top row, three 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" and two 1 3/4" x 2 3/4" for the lower row and four 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" boxes for the lower trays. Glue boxes together in rows and cover with Ideology Tissue Wrap. Cover the edges of the tray as well.

To cover the boxes, tear the tissue into smallish pieces and apply with Ranger Glue and Seal. This stuff is great! Nice matte finish and it dries to a "dry" touch.....not sticky!

Trim and attach a sheet of scrapbook paper to the center of the tray.

Glue the upper row of boxes in place

For added security, attach the tray section with glue AND some brads to the bottom rail of the tray.

Glue the lower row in place just above the tray.

Add a punched or die cut strip to the bottom edge of the upper row to help hold the calender tickets in the compartments.

Add a piece of lightweight acrylic over the center paper. Add a punched or die cut strip to cover the attachment at the top and bottom.

Add cork strips to each side of the center section.

Add perpetual calender dates and other embellishments to match your theme.

To hang on the wall add Ideology Charm loops to the back upper edge with brads.

This would make a great gift....even for yourself!!

Check in tomorrow for a project to use the leftover boxes!

On the SECOND Day of Christmas....

....I am a day late, but at least it is up!!

I made Paper Rosette Angels!

To make these, you will need:

White Cardstock: Cut to 3" x 4 1/2". Score and accordion fold every 1/4"
Cream Cardstock: Cut to 3/4" x 5". Score and accordion fold every 1/4"
White Vellum: Cut TWO at 1 3/4" x 5 1/2". Score and accordion fold every 1/4"

Score your pieces BEFORE punching the edges....it is much easier! Fold after you punch. You will also need two 3/4" circles to hold the rosette front and back. For the Face you will need a 1/2" circle. For the halo and arms, you will need two 3/4" rings of cardstock. You can also add a flower or other embellishment. Watch the video below for further instruction.

Use these as ornaments or fun gift decorations.

On the FIRST Day of Christmas Projects 2011...

Welcome to the TWELVE DAys of Christmas Projects 2011! Every other day until December 23rd, I will have a new project to share with you via Youtube and a tutorial here on my blog. Enjoy!!

On the FIRST Day of Christmas Projects I have a super quick and easy mini album to share with you! This fun binding style - I am calling it Stack the Deck Binding - is quick and versatile. (I will have two different uses for a variation of this binding next week during the next two Ustream classes)

To make this binding you will need some card stock and envelopes in the size and color of your choice.

Seal you envelopes closed. Cut off the side that you want next to the binding and the side opposite it....just a sliver unless you want your envelope smaller. You envelope will look like a tube. Measure the length of the opening of your envelope.

Cut your Stack the Deck binding using this dimension for the height of you pieces. The first will be 1 3/4" wide, the second is 2 1/4" wide and the third is 2 3/4". This will give you 6 pages. For more pages, add 1/2" to the width of the previous piece.

Score and fold 3/4" in from each side. The channel in the center should get larger by 1/2" from one piece to the next. Add adhesive to the back side of each channel.

Attach the layers together - STACK THE DECK! - by centering the pieces on top of each other.

Apply adhesive the the Stack the Deck binding unit to each side of each fin. Slip the open edge of the envelope over the fin....you have a page. Repeat for all pages.

Create a chipboard cover with the spine piece 1/2" wider than the widest piece in your stack. Attach stacked pages to the spine.

Add photo mattes and embellishments.

For the envelope piggy back version, you will need envelopes in two sizes. The larger envelope will be the page base and is sandwiched between the smaller envelopes. Seal the envelopes closed and slice open the center envelope as above. Slice only the top edge of the smaller envelopes. Attach to the Stack the Deck Binding in the same way as the above pages.

Add tags, embellishments and a chip board cover as above.

I didn't get a chance to post this before the Ustream show this afternoon. This is the long awaited Baby version for the Trunk Full Of Memories and the Baby Steps Mini Album (a separate pattern). Kits are available on my website.

Tomorrow I will be posting the first project of the 2011 Twelve Projects of Christmas....Wow! my THIRD year! I have some fun projects to share with you. These include FAST mini albums, home decor items, Christmas decorations, and gift ideas. Each project will include a YouTube video and a tutorial here on my blog. Projects will post every other day, starting December 1, thru December 23rd. I don't have a specific time scheduled, but will try to have them by 6 pm Pacific time each day.

I have been working on the samples and pattern for the Snow Globe Mini Album Project that we will be starting on Ustream next Friday. I am very excited with how they are coming out! The Bo Bunny Snowfall version kits are sold out. I still have some of the Basic Gray Nordic Holiday Version kits avialable on the website. I am trying to complete the pattern sometime tomorrow and it should be up either tomorrow or early Tuesday. (Watch for the announcement that it is up here on the blog.

We ARE having a Ustream show today! We will make a Advent Calender Tree (I switched from the Wreath....liked the Tree better) out of Configuration Box inserts. Class begins at 12 Noon Pacific.

Here's what you need for your Advent Calender Tree:

-(25) Ideology Configuration Box inserts (or similar): (5) 1 5/8" x 1 5/8", (8) 1 5/8" x 2 5/8", (9) 1 1/8" 2 5/8", (3) 2 5/8" x 2 5/8"
-White card stock or patterned paper of your choice
-Number stamps, stickers. or electronic cut-outs

For those who missed the Sneak Peek of the Let It Snow snow globe mini album project on last nights Ustream show, here is a tiny taste of it. I will have the kits up tomorrow and the patterns up on the website as soon as I can. I am hoping to have more the mini inside finished for the Ustream show tomorrow...

During tomorrow's show, we will be using up those leftover tiny Configuration boxes to create a Wreath (or Christmas Tree) Advent calender. I will have a supply list and photo up here on the blog later today.

Yep! Kathryn from the {Scrap}Beach is in the process of moving so I volunteered to host her show for her for tonight, Thursday afternoon and next Monday night. The shows will be on MY Ustream Channel but with HER time schedule:

These shows are in ADDITION to my regularly scheduled Wednesday and Friday/Saturday classes. You will be sick of me by Nov 28th when Kathryn returns to her regular schedule!

Tonight we will finish up the Poinsettia Album. On my regular Wednesday show, we will be making an Advent Wreath using all of the little Ideology Configuration boxes left over from the CHA Clock and CA sewing box projects. We will finish up the Advent Wreath on the Thursday show. (I will post a supply list by tomorrow). On Monday and Wednesday of next week I will demo the Little Baby Album for the top compartment of the Baby version of the Trunk Full of Memories (Kits/supplimentl pattern will be available mid-week this week)

In early October of 2009, I was making a "To-Do" list. I am usually moving at mach 10 with my hair on fire and making lists helps to keep all the balls in the air. I must have been in a philosophical mood that day because instead of making a "To Do" list, I made a "To Be" list. One of the things on that list was to give back to the community. I have an incredible husband, two wonderful children and a beautiful home. I've had my professional career and am now enjoying running a creative business from home that allows me to be home with my kids, volunteer at their schools, and just be there for them the way my parents were there for me.

I have been blessed, therefore I actively look for ways to give back to my family, my friends and to my community. At the time I had just discovered mini scrapbook albums and the internet community surrounding a few months before. Since that time I have begun a business creating kits and patterns for my papercrafting designs. I have been overwhelmed and touched by the positive and supportive response to my work!! It is so appreciated. I have often thought of ways to channel all that positive energy generated by such creative women into a project that also gives back. Thus, the first Pink Mini's Silent Auction was born.

The silent auction was an online fundraiser to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I thought organizing a mini scrap book silent auction would be fun and appropriate! Each participant created an album that was put into a silent action on my blog in late October/early November of 2009. All proceeds (over $1000) from the silent auction went to the Susan G. Komen Foundation through a website associated with their Passionatly Pink for a Cure Program.

Last year I had begun the planning and was just gearing up to have the second annual fundraiser when my daughter's appendix ruptured and she spent over a week in the hospital. Getting the fundraiser off the ground was just too much with my family needs of the time.

This year is different, every one in my family is healthy and the 2nd annual Pink Mini's Silent Auction will begin on Sunday, October 30th. Last time, I held the auction here on my blog. This year I have set up a separate blog just for the auction. The blog address is: www.pinkminis2011.blogspot.com. All of the mini's available for bidding will be up for viewing and bids beginning at Noon Pacific Time on Sunday, October 30th and the auction will run thru 6 pm Pacific Time on Saturday, November 5, 2011. High bidders will be notified by Nov. 7th. They will then go to the event web page set up at the Susan G. Komen Foundation "Passioantely Pink for a Cure" site to make a donation in the amount of their bid. High bidders will receive the mini from the creator as a thank you for their donation! If you just want to make a donation you can also do that at the "Passioantely Pink for a Cure" website. More info regarding bidding and donations will be available on the Pink Mini's 2011 blog.

Please help us advertise this fun and worthy event. A button for your blog and a printable flyer for distribution will be available shortly on the Pink Mini's 2011 blog.

Gingerbread Castle

Over the weekend I finished the Gingerbread Castle version of my new Enchanted Castle project. I still need to do the mini for inside. I will be making the Princess version during the Ustream show next Friday and Saturday.

The original Haunted Castle kits will go out in today's mail. The second batch will be shipped out tomorrow. The Gingerbread and Princess versions will go out later in the week....as soon as the paper arrives.

I received a ton of email asking which punches I have used on these projects. Any punches or decorative scissors can be used, but these are the ones I used:

Hat Box Supply List

Tomorrow night on Ustream we will be making the little hat box shown last week on the Graphic 45 blog swap with Scrapbook Adhesives. As I noted earlier this week, I decided not to create a pattern but rather provide the supply list and hopefully do a tutorial here on the blog. I have been feeling a bit under the weather this week, so I only have the supply list so far. I hope to get a tutorial up soon but there is no guarantee with what I have on my plate on top of feeling a bit off. I will be recording the Ustream for those who can not watch live.
Here is what you need for the class:

It is going up a day late cuz I added to it - I actually I added 5 different envelope sizes! This way no matter what size envelope you want to use, the dimensions are there for you. There will also be directions/dimensions for making your own envelopes.

Finally!! The Clock patterns are up!!

The CHA Clock pattern is up on my website. My apologies for the delay. It is a detailed, photo heavy pattern, so it took some time. All ordered kits have shipped. Those shipped to domestic addresses should arrive in time for class.

Mantle Clock

The kits for the Mantle Clock similar to the one I made for Tim Holtz Winter 2011 CHA booth are up on my website. They will be ready to start shipping on Monday and Tuesday. It looks like the pattern should go up on the website sometime on Tuesday.

Here is the clock in a lighter version than the CHA version.

The kits allow you to choose to make yours darker like the original of light like this one as well as a couple of tones in between! There are two options: with or without the configuration boxes.

Cut (5) 4" x 4" chip board squares. Cut a centered 1/8" x 1 1/8" notch in 4 of the squares
Cut (4) 7/16' x 3 3/4" chip board strips for raised box bottom
Cut (4) 1" x 3 3/4" card stock strips, score and fold in half down the length for joint strips

Middle Box

Stacking Photo Cubes Ustream....

Because of the overwhelmingly positive response to the Stacking Photo Cubes shown on the Graphic 45 blog yesterday, I will be teaching you all how I made them on tomorrow's (September 21) regularly scheduled Ustream class at noon Pacific time.

I will show you a Halloween version and we will make a Christmas version in class. This an extremely versatile project that will work with nearly ANY theme.

For the class, you will need medium weight chip board, paper, optional edge punches, and paper of your choice (Graphic 45, of course!)

Crayon Box Memory Album

This Crayon Box Album was featured on the Graphic 45 blog as one of my G45 Design Team projects a few weeks ago. I was overwhelmed with requests to show how I made this fun project.....so we will be making it tonight on my regular Ustream show.

Rather than having a pattern available for purchase, I am posting the dimensions here on my blog for you to print for yourself and follow along on Ustream. To print, click on the photo of the dimensions. It will open in a separate window that you can then print out.

During the show I will show you how to assemble the box and the the little accordion albums inside the little inside boxes. Here's what you will need:

Black heavy cardstock or poster board (two 12 x 12 or equivalent)
Kraft card stock for inner boxes (three 8 1/2 x 11 sheets)
Graphic 45 "ABC Primer" paper in 12 x 12 (8 x 8 will work)
Black card stock for accordion albums (three 8 1/2 x 11 or equivalent)
1" circle punch

The White Album

I have decided to change up my Wednesday Usteam show a bit. I have been working on older projects to finish them up. Sounds like a great idea, but this morning I was not "feeling" any of the projects under consideration. So instead, Wednesdays are going to become a "whatever Laura feels like working on" kind of day.

Today on my Ustream show I started a new project....The White Album. This project is a challenge. I will be using only white base materials (card stock, ribbon, flowers, etc.) I am then using any technique and/or embellishing products (ink, paint, embossing, stamps, die cuts, etc.) to make a Halloween album. Here is the first page....

Everything here started out stark white. I used a variety of Distress ink colors to create the backgrounds and the paper for the die cut elements. During the show I made the page itself. I was having so much fun that I made the tags for the pockets after the show was over. Next Wednesday I think we might work on the cover.

On Friday morning I will be posted the supplies and cutting instructions/dimensions for the Crayon Box Album. I decided not to do a pattern for you to purchase but rather I will post the dimensions here on the the blog in time for you to print out the info.

Hall Pass Mini Album

My kids go back to school on Tuesday. YEAH!!! Both are starting new schools so we have had orientation sessions this week. Both are getting excited (not more than Mom though...Ha! Ha!) To celebrate back to school, I have a new mini album coming up on Ustream on the 16th and 17th of September.

This Back to School mini fits into....

...a locker! This one is perfect for any age or grade.

I am still finishing up the mini that fits inside and will post some photo's when it is done.

I have two kits available on my website: a primary colored one with the Simple Stores Collection Elementary and a cool collection from Fancy Pants collection called Off to School.

I will be finishing up the pattern over the weekend and it will be sent to all who order the kits. It will be available as a pattern on my website by Monday, Sept. 12.

Tomorrow night we will be finishing up the Trunk Full of Memories project with the file album (7pm Pacific). On Saturday (10 am Pacific) , we will be making a storage box for the files.

Tomorrow's Wednesday Workout Ustream show....

I have been trying to get my kids in for eye doctor appointments before school starts next week. The eye doctor's office just called with an opening for tomorrow so I gotta take it.

The Wednesday Workout Ustream show will be delayed until 2:30 Pacific time for tomorrow only. We will resume out regularly scheduled time of 12 noon Pacific next week (and the kids will be in school by then!!! YEA!!)

During tomorrows show we will be continuing to work on the Trunk Full of Memories trunk.

New Trunk Full of Memories Kits

The new Trunk Full of Memories kits are up on my website. I received confirmation this morning that the last of the paper I am using in the kits is on its way and should arrive by Wednesday. The kits will ship out before the end of the week.

This version features the Printery Collection from Prima. This is the collection I am using on sample I am making on the Ustream series that started this past Friday/Saturday and will continue on Wednesday (12:30 pm Pacific) and on Friday (7 pm Pacific).

I have a fun back to school project over on the Graphic 45 blog today. Ah, memories of getting ready to go back to school!

Sarah and I are going to go school clothes shopping today. Everything I think is cute will earn an eye roll and a firm "No." So, I have mastered the reverse psychology method of shopping with her and only point out the things I hate with a "Isn't this cute!". She then goes towards the stuff I really like. Shhhh! Don't tell Sarah of my methods!

Trevor is so much a male....whatever I buy, he will wear as long as it goes along with "Don't make me look stupid, okay?" Of course, the I won't know the true definition of "looking stupid" until i bring home the wrong thing!

It was all so much easier before they could talk and have their own opinion. For now I will just bite my tongue, veto the outrageous stuff and hope that in about 10 years, what I think will matter to them again, but I'm not holding my breathe.....

Off to finish my Tuesday Tag video before we head to the mall.....

We have a new addition to our family....the last for a while...
Her name is Meme and she is 4 yrs old and a rescue dog.

She is beyond sweet! I am, of course an ol' softy for animals...and a bit crazy! I had a black and tan Dachschund for 16 years. They are the best little dogs. Toby is a bit ....okay, he's a lot.... jealous, but he will adjust.

I am going to be starting my weekly tag Youtube video this Tuesday, so keep an eye out for that. I will also be starting my Wednesday afternoon Ustream shows this week. Those who watch my Ustream know that I have been planning this for a while as a time for me to work on completing some of my zillions of unfinished albums. No class, just chatting and working time. You will get to see how I finish up some of the albums you have seen me start on my class shows. The first show will be this Wednesday at 12 noon Pacific time till around 2 ish. I hope to do it nearly every week, especially after school starts. I will keep you posted here on the blog.

WOW! It's been a CRAZY 2 years....

Today is my 2 year Blog-a-versary and YouTube-a-versary!

It has been a fun, crazy and busy two years since I began sharing my paper crafting work with all of you! The 2.15 MILLION total views and 9900 subscribers on Youtube plus the 750,000 visits and nearly 3000 followers here on the blog have me both flabbergasted and humbled. Talk about exceeding expectations!!

During my Ustream show last night we had a blast with some fun techniques for embellishing tags. In celebration of the my "-versaries", I am giving away 3 of the tags I made last night. I finished them up this morning and they are all signed and dated. I am also giving away a bottle of a fun new product that I tried last night - GooseBumps - by Tsukineko. COOL STUFF! I creates a wonderful orange peel-like glossy surface in a pump spray.

A new envelope mini....

I have designed a ton of envelope minis in the two years I have been paper crafting, but I have come up with another one that I will be showing how to make on my Ustream show next week (August 19th).

This one is an accordian fold album using #10 Policy envelopes....the ones with the flaps on the end. (it can be made from card stock as well...I have the instructions in the pattern) You can also make it from other size envelopes as I will show you on the show.

As is typical with my mini albums, it is very interactive and has lots of room for photo's and journalling.

For those of you who have difficulties with Ustream, I will be uploading Youtube video of the album construction after the Ustream class.

Here is my project for you to enjoy!

I took one of the Want-2-Scrap chipboard mini albums and instead of making it into an album, I used the individual pages as mattes within shadow box frames. The 6" square images form Christmas Emporium fit perfectly with in the matting. I then added either a pearl or crystal Want2Scrap swirl. A crackle painted chip board flourish and a spray of flowers on each image added a consistent component to all four boxes.

Materials:
Paper - Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium
Chip board book pages and flourish - Want2Scrap
Pearls and Bling - Want2Scrap
Flowers - Prima
Shadow Box Frames (12 x 12) - MCS Industries

Trunk Full of Memories kits are up!

The kits are up over on my website. This trunk features the brand new Bo Bunny Etecetra paper and a unique way to use a Graphic 45 Door Plate.

Here are the photo's of the upcoming project for those who missed the sneak peak on Ustream over the weekend.

This project is inspired by the classic steamer trunk.

The top tray can hold a mini album or memorabilia and ephemora.

The entire trunk lifts to reveal a file album.

The album is comprised of twelve 4" x 6" folders to represent 12 months, 12 school years, etc. Document a year in the life of yourself, your child or grandchild, the school years, a desk calender.... lot's of possibilities!

The kits are anticipated to ship before August 15th. I ship via USPS Priority mail for domestic orders and I am happy to ship internationally (international shipping rates will apply). The pattern should be finished within the next few days and will be available as a pattern only on my website as well.

I will also have a baby version available soon....I'm nearly half done with the sample and will post it here on my blog when it is complete. It is going to be gorgeous! Delicate antiqued whites and pastels will make it a beautiful baby gift!

This has become a favorite project and I am sooo excited to share it with you! My kids are changing so quickly right now, nearly as much as they did when they were babies. I am going to document these changes in this album for 2012. I photographed my kids each month when they were babies, from birth to 1 year. The baby version of the trunk will be PERFECT for those photo's! The top tray can hold a mini baby book and keepsakes like afirst tooth, first haircut....

Also included in this project will be the instructions for a storage box for each years files. Make new files and document the next year... it can become an ongoing calender of life's journey!

A new mini....

This Friday and Saturday I will be doing a Ustream show on how to make the mini that is featured today on the Graphic 45 blog. Check out the schedule on the blog sidebar for times.

This is a fun, fast, and easy mini to make. Though I will be giving out all the dimensions on the show, I will also have a pattern/tutorial available on my website by Thursday. I will be making the larger size on the show but the pattern will include both the larger and smaller versions.

To work along with me you will need the following supplies:

- (16-18) 12" x 12" patterned papers. At least 6 MUST be double sided and non-directional
- (8) 12" x 12" coordinating colored card stock
- 3 yds rayon ribbon or patterned ribbon
- 1 yd coordinating ribon for optional closure
- Brad and garment pin or loop for optional closure
- Flowers and embellishments for covers, pages and tags
- Glue, adhesives, optional punches or edgers

Also, tomorrow will be the re-scheduled Part 4 of the Vintage Suitcase mini album at 1pm Pacific time.

A couple of updates....

The last of the CHA Suitcase kits went out on Monday. The rescheduled last part of that class will be next Wednesday, July 27, NOT tomorrow. See the schedule on the sidebar for time, etc.

The Split Paper Bag Butterfly Garden kits are up and selling quickly. The pattern should be up tomorrow. The Glitz Love Games version will go up before Friday and a 3rd summer themed version featuring Bo Bunny's Barefoot and Bliss along with 7 Gypsies Mykanos will post soon (though it won't be shipping until the first week of August due to product delays)

I am waiting for the last couple of items for the Tag! You're it! kits. They will go out as soon as everything is here. It is a challenging time of year getting products to arrive on time. Summer CHA started today and so many vendors are in Chicago.

I am also working on the late summer and fall schedule....HOLY SMOKES!....where is the summer going?! We have had only 76 hours over 75 degrees this summer.....doesn't feel like summer has even begun here in the Pacific Northwest!

I'm looking forward to showing you all the new paper bag mini I have designed on Friday! I hope you like it! See you all then...

She's baaaaaack....

Hey gang! No, I didn't melt away in Florida! I had to hit the ground running as soon as I got back to finish up a few projects for the G45 CHA booth. Then it was kit assembly... and a few new samples..... and about a million loads of laundry, too.

Any hoo...I am back and we have a Ustream class tonight! I missed you all! We are making the Peekaboo Mini albums tonight and in the morning....

Due to a delay in product arrival, I moved the Tag! You're it! Mini album to a week later. I have a BRAND NEW style of paper bag mini that I will do next week....a Split Bag Mini Album... sneek peek tonight! I designed this one about 6 months ago and have had it on the back burner for just such a situation. I am loving how it is coming out and hope you do, too! I am using the Pink Paislee "Butterfly Garden" paper collection (LOVE it!) I will have kits for it up by tomorrow and the pattern by Monday.

We made it!

After a very long day of flying (we left home at 9:30 am and got here at the hotel at 2am) we are at Disney World safe and sound. The debit card woes are in the process of being fixed...nothing really lost...just needed to do some juggling to get it to all work out. More of a pain than anything else. I have been cranking at a crazy pace to get ahead of things before I leave on vacation. Got a lot done but still have a bunch to do! Sleep is over-rated anyway, right?!?

I did get the Family Pets version kits of the Peekaboo mini up on the website.

The kits include BOTH the Peekaboo mini Album pattern and the Family Pets Supplemental pattern.
To clarify regarding the patterns, the Peekaboo mini Album pattern includes the instructions to make the mini album as well as both the zoo and fairy tags. The Family Pets Supplemental pattern includes how to modify the pages to use single sided paper and card stock as well as the tags for the Family Pets. The Supplemental pattern DOES NOT include how to make the pages or templates.... You will still need the Peekaboo Mini Album pattern for that info.

I will be showing all three versions on the Ustream show tomorrow evening. If you want your kit in time for the show , you need to order it by Sat, July 2 at the latest. I am shipping all the Peekaboo kits ordered thus far tomorrow and my Mom will do a run to the post office on Monday for me. Anything ordered after Saturday won't ship until July 12 after I return.

I will have my laptop and all the pattern info with me to reset , release or help in general regarding patterns and downloads. I will most likely will be checking email twice a day while I'm n Florida.

I will also be putting up the Tag! You're It! Kits for Pre-order tomorrow. It will use the Basic Gray Out of Print collection.

I am IN LOVE with this paper collection!!!!! We will be creating this album on July 22nd and 23rd....sneak peeks before I leave..... We will then be working on creating tags over the next several weeks using a variety of techniques that I have come up with as well as some that I learned at Ranger U.

Don't forget we are finishing up the inside of the CHA suitcase tomorrow night and Saturday morning....see the schedule on the right side bar for the times.

Best Friends....

Here is the latest Peekaboo Mini Album featuring our Best Friends...our family pets. The critters included are two different cats, two dogs, a hamster/guinea pig and a bird.

I will have kits for this one as well and a supplimental pattern. You will still need the Peekaboo mini Album pattern to complete this album (the kits will include BOTH patterns). The kits will be up either tonight or in the morning and will be ready to ship by Friday.

BTW, I had a question come in this morning as to who the manufacturer for the critters and fairies are. It's me! I designed all of the critters/fairies and the pattern includes directions on how to make templates to create the fuzzy, fluttery creatures yourself!

I have a couple of minor revisions to the Vintage Suitcase pattern. I work really hard to make my patterns as error free as possible but occasionally something slips by. Here are the revisions/typo's:

Page 2 (bottom): Reads (2) 1 3/8" x 6" should read (2) 1 5/8" x 6" and (1) 1 3/8" x 8" should read (1) 1 5/8" x 8"

Page 3 (top): Reads (2 1 x 6 and (2) 1 x 1 1/2 should read (2) 1 x 6 and (2) 1 x 8

What a crazy week...

It has been a crazy week so far, and it's barely half over!

All of the Suitcase kits (the first batch) are out, with the exception of the ones going to Canada. As soon as I get the word from my Post Office that they can accept Canadian mail again, I will get them off to you as soon as I can. What a pain it must be for all of our Canadian friends to have your mail service on strike!!

I am working on the Zoo and Garden Fairy albums that we will do the weekend after I return from vacation. The kits are up on the website and the patterns will be up by tomorrow morning. I will post photo's here on the blog later today. The kits will be shipped BEFORE I leave for Florida.

Next up....Ustream. Currently not one of my favorite topics. First, let me say that Ustream, Adobe Flash and Internet Explorer are all aware of the problem and are working to correct it....please take a breathe and be patient. Last weeks video seems to be the one that is hanging up for the most people. It has turned into a nightmare for me, so I have taken it down. Trust me, no one is more frustrated by all of this than I am. I will do a quick Youtube video of the mini I did in class so that you don't feel the I "just left you hanging" as I was accused of doing. Over on my NIng site there is a loooong discussion forum on solutions and fixes, so I won't go into it here. I have not personally had these issues (my Mac has worked fine all along) but I know it has been a long, frustrating issue for many of you. Let's cross out fingers that Ustream is more cooperative this week. I have spent significant time looking into solutions and alternates this week (time that I didn't really have). Please be patient!

Suitcase pattern is available....

The Vintage Suitcase pattern is up on my website. I have also added kits to the website. (The kits won't be shipping until July 12th unless all of the products arrive before I leave for Florida) The class will be the next two weekends on Ustream.

I know many of you have had difficulties viewing Ustream from Friday. Let me assure you, if I could do something to "fix" it I would. I have nothing to do with the recording beyond hitting the "record" button. I have no other control over them. I received some rather nasty emails demanding that I do something....I wish I could!! Feel free to contact ustream with your anger. Some have suggested that I move the videos over to Youtube....that won't work as they far exceed the time limit set by Youtube.

Has anyone seen a mouse?

....we will be soon!

We have NEVER taken a true family vacation (visiting family in other states doesn't really count in my eyes). This year we decided that we need to just do it before the kids get any older, so....

We are going to DISNEY WORLD!

Call me crazy for going to Florida in July but....just imagine the 4th of July FIREWORKS at Disney World!!

Woo Hoo!

We will head out on the 3rd to Orlando (via a short layover in San Francisco) and return on the 10th. That means I will miss having a class on the weekend after the holiday, but I need the break. The kids are beyond excited! Sarah is ready to start packing tonight!

I may be paying for it forever, but it will be worth every penny to have the memories with the kids while they are still young enough to realize the magic. Guess this means a Disney mini is in my future!

I was so excited with the response I have had to the new Pick Pocket Mini! I am so glad that you all love it as much as I do! I was able to add a few more of each of the kit styles if you are looking for one....

I am finishing up the CHA Suitcase sample and pattern. The pattern should be ready by the end of the week if not sooner.

Pick Pocket mini...

Here is the video for the new Pick Pocket mini. I am very pleased with how this one has come out.....it is one of my favorites!

The are kits available and the pattern is up and ready to go. We will be making the third, "Elegant" version during class tonight on Ustream. As always, the class will be recorded if you can't join us. Class starts at 7 pm Pacific. Please note that I have switched the second half to Saturday at 1 pm Pacific. (My local class canceled so my day opened up).

CHA Vintage Suitcase Kits...

This is the PRE-ORDER kit for a suitcase mini similar in look to the one displayed at Winter 2011 CHA and shown below. The kit includes the pattern/instructions (DO NOT order it separately) to be sent out via emailed PDF. The pattern is anticipated to be emailed out on or before June 13 and will be available for purchase separate from the kits for those who want just the pattern. The kits are estimated ship by June 15th. The photo shows the minimum product to be included in the kit. If I need to make any substitutions, the kit will include a similar item. And who knows, I may add a few things prior to shipment.

The Ustream class is scheduled for June 24 & 25 and July 1 & 2.
